PNC Bank snaps up BNY Mellon’s wealth chief

Don Heberle, the former leader of BNY Mellon’s wealth management business, has landed a new job leading PNC Bank’s wealth group.

He begins his new post on June 4, according to PNC Bank.

Heberle parted ways with BNY Mellon at the end of March after he and the bank’s leadership mutually agreed to separate, BNY Mellon said.

Heberle will assume the role as leader of the PNC Bank’s wealth management business from Alistair Jessiman, who has commanded both the wealth management and institutional asset management groups.

With Heberle’s arrival, Jessiman will lead only the institutional asset management business. The executive realignment will provide greater focus to each of the two groups, a PNC spokeswoman said.

Both Heberle and Jessiman will report to Mike Lyons, head of Corporate and Institutional Banking and Asset Management.

Lyons lauded Heberle’s track record of success, saying it aligns with and reinforces the bank’s strategic priorities. “We are thrilled to have someone of Don’s caliber and experience lead our wealth management business as we strive to be the leading relationship-based provider of banking, investments, planning and fiduciary products and services to wealthy individuals and families,” he said.

Heberle served as CEO of BNY Mellon Wealth Management for nearly three years. Prior to assuming leadership of the business in July 2015, he was the firm’s executive director responsible for wealth strategy and international wealth management. He joined BNY Mellon in 1997.
